50 years of Bilston Community Association

On 19 October 1976, our constitution was formally adopted. In October 2026, we celebrate our 50th anniversary — five decades of local people coming together to run a place for local people.
We are proud of the contribution the Association has made to Bilston over the years and will be celebrating this important milestone with the community throughout 2026.
But our anniversary is not just about looking back.

It is also an opportunity to look forward — continuing to provide a place where people can meet, participate, support one another and help build a stronger community for the future.
Our Community Centre is a place where people come together throughout the year. It provides space for activities, services, meetings, celebrations and community groups, including:

IT training - Youth clubs - Activities and support for older people - Painting classes and knitting workshops - Scouts and church groups - Cultural and community celebrations - Community meetings - Private hire for parties and family occasions

The centre is used by a wide range of local people and organisations, and we welcome enquiries from community groups, voluntary organisations and individuals looking for somewhere to meet. A suumary of regular users can be found on our timetable page (link at top of page)

Who Are We  Here For?  Bilston is a diverse community, and our doors are open to everyone. Our aim is simple: to make our community centre a welcoming place where people can connect with others and take part in community life.

• Local residents and anyone who needs somewhere to meet

• We provide rooms and community space for groups, organisations and individuals to meet, run activities and bring people together.
• Our centre provides a home for a range of social, educational, cultural and community activities

• Where we can, we provide advice, information and practical support to help people access community opportunities and services.
  
• We support local groups, and work alongside local charities, voluntary organisations and community groups, helping them establish themselves, continue their activities and contribute to the wider community.

  We are proud to work alongside organisations that share our commitment to supporting local people and strengthening community life.
  
  In particular we have worked closely with Your Helping Hands for several years. Your Helping Hands is a registered charity providing social care and supported living support across the West Midlands.
  The organisation delivers care and support from the centre for local people who need help to live independently.
  
  Wolverhampton Gujarati Community Club CIC, Wolverhampton Gujarati Community Club CIC brings together Gujarati elders and families in Bilston.
  The organisation provides cultural and social activities and plays an active role in community life, including the annual Bilston Diwali celebration.
  
  We recognise that some organisations working with BCA share trustees or directors with the Association. These relationships are declared and managed in accordance with our conflicts of interest policy.
  
  Our Governance
  
  We currently have around 30 member groups.  We are a democratic organisation and encourage our members to take an active interest in the Association and its work.
  Our Management Committee meets on the third Tuesday of every other month at 7.00pm at the Community Centre.
  Members are welcome to attend meetings as observers, and anyone interested in becoming involved is encouraged to get in touch. Full details of membership are available on request.
